Sterile ultrasound gel
Vue Ultrasound Gel is available in 20ml single-use sachets, ideal for use in a busy clinic or hospital. These sachets are easy to transport, conveniently sized for reducing waste and have a 5-year shelf life.
Vue Ultrasound Gel 20ml sachets are available single-wrapped or double-wrapped. The double-wrapped option are sterile inside and out, and designed for use during procedures that require an aseptic technique. The single-use sachet design aims to reduce the risk of patient to patient cross-contamination.
Public Health England has outlined that Sterile ultrasound gel must be used:
- For invasive procedures, meaning any ultrasound-guided procedure.
- Any viewing or assessment prior to performing an invasive procedure.
- Where there is contact with non-intact skin.
- Where there is contact with mucous membrane.
- For examinations on immunocompromised, neonatal intensive care or critically ill hospitalised patients.
Non-sterile ultrasound gel
Non-sterile ultrasound gels are recommended for use during low risk external, general ultrasound examinations on intact skin.
