Keeping a bladder diary

Keeping good bladder health

There are many symptoms related to bladder health which could result in a visit to your GP. Perhaps you have concerns about the number of times you’re getting up to pass urine during the night and this is leaving you feeling fatigued during the day.

Maybe you’re feeling the urge to go frequently but struggle to pass urine when you get to the toilet. If you’re affected by either of these issues, or if there’s anything else concerning you about your bladder health, please arrange an appointment to see a healthcare professional.

Bladder diary

If you’re planning a visit with a healthcare professional because you have concerns about your bladder, it can be helpful to keep a bladder diary. If necessary, this can be reviewed during your appointment and help to provide an accurate picture of what is happening and inform a treatment plan.

There are many online sources where you can download and print a bladder diary. These include columns where you can document what you’re drinking and at what time, what volume you’re drinking, when you pass urine on the toilet and when you change pads (if these are used).

If you’d prefer to document this information on an app, there are a few to choose from and they’re free of charge. Type ‘bladder diary’ into the app store and have a browse!
