Employee Volunteering at Optimum Medical

Here at Optimum Medical and Vyne, we believe in the power of giving back to your local community and supporting those who need it. This is rooted in our values: “we care”, which makes compassion central to who we are.

As a Healthcare company, it is particularly important to us that we keep human beings at the center of everything we do.

That’s why we offer all employees paid time off each year to dedicate to a charity or volunteering event of their choice. Starting in 2026, we’re increasing the number of paid volunteering days from 1 to 2. This means everyone will have even more time to support causes that matter to them, and will help us make a bigger impact throughout the year. That’s now 2 days a year for our employees to step out of their routines and dedicate their time to doing some good. We believe that giving back not only benefits our communities but also improves wellbeing and creates a sense of purpose for our employees. That’s why we’re so pleased to double the time they can dedicate to volunteering.

From volunteering their time at food banks to supporting charity events and fundraisers, we have seen employees dedicate their volunteering day to all sorts of causes. We’re really proud of everyone who has volunteered their time and had a positive impact while representing Optimum Medical and Vyne, and the values that we stand for.

Here are some of the ways that people used their volunteering day in 2025.

John

In 2025, John volunteered at Surplus to Purpose. Surplus to Purpose reclaims surplus food and redistributes it to the local community.

Here’s what John had to say about his day:

“We at OM are very lucky to get a charity day to go and volunteer and help out. We should each aim to use these. I’m sure each and every one of us has a charity dear to them or that they feel are doing great things. So, in 2026….make sure to use yours!

“Well, mine is Surplus to Purpose, operating out of St. Vincent’s in Bradford these guys aim to redistribute food that was going to be wasted – their slogan is to “Feed bellies, not bins!” – whether the food was marked for waste due to the supermarket ordered too much of a product and didn’t sell as much as expected, the produce being too “wonky” or “small”, because the suggested ‘use by’ date is near/expired, right up to the delightfully weird – the warehouse where the food was produced ran a line with nuts at the same time as a non-nut product and now cannot guarantee the allergy status of that batch, or the plastic mixture for potato bags wasn’t correct and the weight of the items caused the bags to split if the item was lifted up (true story!)… for all these reasons food is often wasted, and these guys aim to intercept such and sell it not-for-profit, to us the public.

“Well, they needed assistance with refurbishment, so on Friday I went along and helped out – in the morning doing some sales and stock management, then in the afternoon with moving shelving and freezers around and repainting the newly redesigned space.”

Katy and Kseniia

In December 2025, Katy and Kseniia donated their time in support of Bradford Hospitals Charity by wrapping gifts at The Broadway Shopping Centre in Bradford.

They were set up at a stall in the shopping centre, raising funds and Christmas spirit while wrapping gifts for shoppers. Proceeds from the Christmas wrapping event all go towards supporting the amazing work that Bradford Hospital Charity does.

Ellie and Lily

Continuing the festive theme, Ellie and Lily volunteered at Bradford Hospital Charity’s Christmas Fair. The fair was set up in the foyer of Bradford Royal Infirmary, and sold coffees and Christmas ornaments, all to support Bradford Hospital Charity.

They spent the day managing the stalls, chatting with healthcare professionals, patients and families and, of course, raising money to support the charity.

We’re so pleased to offer our volunteering days to support our communities and improve wellbeing for our employees. We’re excited to see what everyone does with their 2 volunteering days in 2026!
