Optimum Medical Bake Off 2019

Optimum Medical Bake Off 2019

It’s that time of year again. We’ve dug out our aprons and got our mixing bowls at the ready…it’s Optimum Medical Bake Off! Each year, we run a competition at Optimum Medical tied in with the TV show. Each person has a contestant and when their baker is eliminated, they have to bake something tasty for us the following week. We’re fairly loose on the rules: if it’s baked, it counts! In the past, we’ve enjoyed incredible samosas and even baked potatoes with a variety of tasty toppings.

Donations collected from each person’s baking efforts are combined and distributed between our two corporate charities at the end of the competition – Alzheimer’s Society and Great Ormond Street Hospital. We like to do some good for our chosen charities, if not for our waistlines!

Here’s some information about our two charities…

Alzheimer’s Society

Alzheimer’s Society provides support to the 850,000 people in the UK living with dementia, and their friends and families. There’s no cure and it currently stands as being the UK’s biggest killer. As well as providing support, Alzheimer’s Society also funds research – helping us get ever-closer to finding a cure for this challenging, distressing disease.

Optimum Medical understands the challenges of caring for someone with dementia who also has incontinence. We’ve designed our products to be as discreet and comfortable as possible, benefiting those with dementia. Read our latest blog post on caring for someone with incontinence and dementia for more information.

Great Ormond Street Hospital

Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is a truly remarkable establishment which has been around since 1852, and is an international centre of excellence in child healthcare. As well as caring for the 237,908 outpatient visits and 43,218 inpatient annual visits, they’re pioneering medical research to develop new treatments to benefit children around the world.

How’s the competition shaping up so far?

So far this year, we’ve had delicious coconut balls from our IT Specialist Csaba and melt-in-the-mouth cookies from Kirsty – our Senior Customer Support Specialist. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for regular photos of our latest baking delights!
